Borderlands

Borderlands for the PCBorderlands is a highly anticipated RPG + FPS PC game with  concept art style and unique gameplay.  The game takes place in a region named Borderlands which is located on another planet called Pandora.  The planet features a vault in which alien weaponry is stockpiled, once the location of this vault is revealed, hell breaks out and an Alien-Human conflict arises.  You can play as one of four different characters each with their own specialty skill trees and special powerups.  The four classes encourage another feature that has not been seen since Left 4 Dead was released in 2008, 4 player Co-Op.  Multiplayer allows for defeating more complicated enemies and bosses with greater ease.  The four classes are as follows:

Roland: A soldier spec in Borderlands, he is able to wield Rifles and Shotguns.  He can also deploy energy shields to deflect enemy fire and heal teammates by utilizing his medic skill tree.

Mordecai: Primarily a hunter, Mordecai mainly uses his Sniper Rifle to attack enemies from great range.  He also has a pet which he can send off to individual targets.

Lilith: Considered a magic class, can be considered the Mage.  She can become invisible and phase through bullets and enemies inflicting great damage.  She is also said to have a large amount of other powers that have yet to be released.

Brick: Fittingly Brick is the tank class of the group.  He can withstand large amounts of damage, and can kill his enemies through powerful melee attacks.

The game features RPG elements of Diablo and World of Warcraft and the FPS aspects from Halo.  This is a unique combination not seen before in the gaming industry.  The level cap is said to be 50.  Every level up allows the players to assign points and increase damage and other stats.  The main selling point of this game is the weapons system.  The game touts a gun generating engine that is able to randomly create millions of different weapons on the fly.  This keeps loot random and new every time and allows for an enormous level of character customization.

Look for Borderlands to hit shelves on October 20, 2009 for the PC and Xbox360, there is no news of a PS3 version yet.

Modern Warfare 2

by on Sep.07, 2009, under Video Game News

Modern Warfare 2 is set to hit shelves this November.  The first installment Modern Warfare was an instant success, in fact it is still outselling its sequel, Call of Duty: World at War.  To date the game has shipped 12 million copies after 17 months on the market making it the number one multiplayer game on Xbox Live as well as the Playstation Network.  Analysts now predict that Modern Warfare 2 will reach that milestone in a mere 2 months making it by far the fastest selling game of all time.  That’s saying something considering the Gaming now brings in over 17 Billion every year that’s around 9 billion more than Hollywood.   The hype for the sequel is huge and the game should set records in almost every category including the highly coveted most sales in a week record currently held by Grand Theft Auto IV.
